DEFRANCESCO DUO CLAIMS 1-2 FINISH IN ROTAX MINI MAX

May 8, 2012

Taking to the challenging South Florida Homestead Karting facility, DeFrancesco Racing pilots Devlin and Lachlan DeFrancesco stole the show by claiming the top two positions in the ultra competitive Rotax Mini Max division. Looking to carry over their momentum from both the Florida Winter Tour and the WSK Masters Series programs, Lachlan went on to score his first career Rotax Mini Max victory while older brother Devlin crossed the stripe in the second position.

"Lachlan finished the Florida Winter Tour season off strong and carried that momentum into this past weekend's events," expressed Team Manager and Driver Coach Nick Mitchell. "Learning from his older brother and coming into his own, Lachlan scored the win and is extremely excited about the rest if the 2012 racing season."

Utilizing Supertune USA prepared Rotax powerplants, Lachlan, who turned nine years of age less than a month ago, was untouchable around the seven-tenths of a mile facility throughout the day's action. After taking the pole position and heat race win, Lachlan continued his hot streak to score his first career main event victory in the Rotax Mini Max class and is beginning to show why he will be a threat for multiple race wins and championships as his karting career moves forward.

Not to be outdone, older brother Devlin DeFrancesco was hot on the heels of his younger brother throughout the entire event. After claiming the second position in the morning qualifying session, Devlin went on to finish in the second position in both the prefinal and main events to provide DeFrancesco Racing with their first ever 1-2 finish.

"I am very proud of both of my boys," noted Andy DeFrancesco after the event was complete. "Lachlan has only done two Mini Max races and to run at the front of the field and win is something that we are really proud of."

While Lachlan will continue his development in South Florida in a few weeks time, Devlin will travel back to Europe this weekend for the first round of the CSAI Championship in Sarno, Italy. Competing in the Mini 60 class, Devlin will try and improve on previous European results and stand on the top of the podium overseas.
